Education Voters, joined by several allies, is organizing a Statewide Call-to-Action for Public Education.
Once again, Pennsylvania is facing a budget that doesn’t provide enough funds for our schools to operate. In this year’s budget, funding for our schools received over $900 million in budget cuts and NOW THOSE CUTS ARE BEING CARRIED FORWARD AGAIN FOR NEXT YEAR’S BUDGET -with an additional $94 million more in cuts being added on! These cuts have led to increases in class size, the closure of school buildings, the elimination of successful programs such as full-day kindergarten, music programs, tutoring and the loss of many instructional and support staff – the people who teach and take care of our students. Our schools can’t take any more cuts! We must invest in our future and that means investing in our students and our public schools.
YOU can help stop this from happening again! Mark your calendar and plan just 5 minutes to call the Governor and your State Representatives and Senators to tell them: NO MORE CUTS – PUT THE MONEY BACK!
Below you will find everything you will need to participate in a Call-to-Action day.

Here is how: Click HERE to look up your legislators’ contact info. The Governor’s phone number is (717) 787-2500.
Call and tell them you are concerned about the cuts to public education! Make the following points:
- This year’s funding cuts of over $900 million are having an awful impact on our schools: class sizes are increasing and programs are being cut!
- The legislature should restore the $994 million (this year plus proposed) that has been cut from our schools!
- We need a funding formula that meets the needs of our kids, is fiscally responsible and is fair to students and to communities.
- We need a formula so we can make sure our schools are getting what they need and are sustainable.
- We need to address special education issues and provide a quality opportunity to learn for all children.
- Education is a top priority issue for you as a taxpayer and voter – a responsible community with strong values educates all of our children and makes it a priority.
AFTER YOU CALL, please CLICK HERE to take 3 minutes to let us know how the call went. We’d like to hear what you were told and about your experience.
Another way you can help is to SPREAD THE WORD: CLICK HERE to send an email to 3 (or 10!) people you know and ask them to join you in making this call. You can email them and say: “I am so concerned about what is happening to our schools, I am going to make a Call for Education on Monday, March 5th, and it would be great if you could too. I am enclosing the information or you can find out more at educationvoterspa.org.”
That’s it! It is important and really, really easy –even the busiest people can participate.
