1. Click HERE to look up your legislators’ contact info:
Governor Tom Corbett: Phone:(717) 787-2500
2. Call them and, in your own words, say something like (pick a few or mention all points):
Every kid must have an opportunity to learn and good schools make stronger communities; education is a human right.
Stop these drastic budget cuts and rising class sizes: we need a better budget in 2012.
I am concerned (outraged, distressed) about rising class sizes, loss of support programs and Kindergarten (arts, sports, science, teaching aids). [If you are aware of specific cuts in your district, mention them!] Education is my top priority issue as a taxpayer and voter – a responsible community with strong values educates all of our children and makes it a priority – that is just how we ought to roll [My 11 year old thinks we should say that, so I told her I’d work it in].
Oppose vouchers, they don’t work and we must take the steps necessary to support struggling schools for all kids in them.
We need to address special education issues.
Support a good funding formula that is fair and provides appropriate resources for all students to get a solid foundation for the future.
Let them know you plan to follow these issues and see what happens.
3. AFTER YOU CALL (this is important) CLICK HERE to take 3 minutes and let us know how the call went…. We want to hear your story! Join people across Pennsylvania in making our legislators hear a stronger “Call for Education”.
4. SPREAD THE WORD: CLICK HERE to send an email to 3 (4, 10) people you know, and ask them to join you in making this call next week.
I am so concerned about what is happening to our schools, I am going to make a Call for Education on Wednesday, January 25th , and it would be great if you could too. Here is the information.
That’s it! It is really, really easy –we set it up so even the busiest people can participate. Don’t forget to PLEDGE right now to make the Call. Or if you have any questions, email us .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
