Campaign Director, Philadelphia
Program Director or Program Associate, Harrisburg

We are seeking qualified applicants for a position located in Harrisburg
Education Voters of Pennsylvania is a non-profit organization, established in 2007 to promote a pro public education policy agenda with elected officials, policy makers and the public.  We are hiring someone for our new Harrisburg office with responsibility for implementing our suite of programs at our new location.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide programmatic support and policy analysis for the organization’s policy agenda and activities; and be a key part of the organizations government affairs program.
  • Develop and execute programs and events to engage the public in public education issues and campaigns; including some state outreach activities throughout Pennsylvania.
  • Represent the organization; create and maintain relationships with organizations, individuals, elected officials, community and civic leaders.
  • Work as part of a team on the organization’s advocacy and electoral campaigns.
  • Participate in organizational planning and development activities.

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and public speaking skills to effectively represent the organization;
  • Knowledge of government and the policy-making process; government affairs experience;
  • Experience in issue advocacy and/or campaigns;
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize appropriately;
  • Non-profit organizational and development/fundraising experience a plus, but not required;
  • Minimum of a college degree and 4 years professional work experience.

Notes:

Position may be filled at Program Director (7+ years experience) or Program Associate (4-7 years experience) level.
The position is based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Position requires some statewide travel.  Some evenings, overnight and weekends required to attend conferences, meetings, events and to represent the organization.

Program/Campaign Manager for Fall 2010
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing issue and electoral campaign plans (endorsements, activities, voter contact, media etc).  Position is temporary (September to late November).  Campaign experience (issue and/or election) a must. Job will require evenings and weekends and travel.  Our main office is is Philadelphia.   • Building demand for great schools by informing the public, community leadership, and business community about the indisputable economic and social benefits of quality public schools and what is being done—or not done—about these critical issues in Harrisburg.
  • Creating new voter engagement strategies to help provide information about how we can demand—and get—real action from our leaders.
  • Distinguish candidates and elected leaders that are pro public education and which are not, issuing endorsements based on support for public education.

Education Voters Pennsylvania is a non-profit, non-partisan organization.  We were established in 2007 to promote a pro public education agenda with elected leaders, legislators and the public.

Education Voters Pennsylvania is a 501c4 organization which enables us to lobby for laws furthering sound education policy and participate in election activity that supports pro public education candidates, legislators and leaders. We are a tax exempt organization, but because we lobby, contributions to our organization are not tax deductible.

Education Voters Pennsylvania is an affiliate of Education Voters of America.

Education Voters Pennsylvania will work to ensure our political leaders adopt and implement a pro public education agenda. We will hold political leaders accountable if they fail to do so and support elected officials who lead the way to high quality public education. To that end we are:

  • Building demand for great schools by informing the public, leadership, and business community about the indisputable economic and social benefits of quality public schools and what is being done—or not done—about these critical issues in Harrisburg.
  • Creating new voter engagement strategies to help provide information about how we can demand—and get—real action from our leaders.
  • Distinguish candidates and elected leaders that are pro public education and which are not, issuing supportive endorsements and exposing those who stand as blockades to progress for local districts and communities.

Education Voters Pennsylvania is a nonprofit, tax-exempt corporation under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions. To make a contribution online, we also ask for your credit card number and its expiration date.

Because Education Voters Pennsylvania uses donations for political purposes such as supporting or opposing candidates for office, we do not accept contributions from business corporations or unions, and your personal contribution is NOT tax-deductible as charitable contributions.
